Start my free 7-day trialA truncated, hyper-potent IGF-1 variant with very low binding-protein affinity, used for localized effects.
Missing the N-terminal tripeptide, it evades IGFBPs and activates IGF-1 receptors roughly 10x more potently than native IGF-1, with short half-life.
Hypoglycemia risk; WADA-prohibited; theoretical proliferative concerns.

Basis: Prescribing information (somatropin, mecasermin) and clinical studies. Educational only, not medical advice.
Insulin and other diabetes medicines
IGF-1 lowers blood sugar like insulin does; together they raise the risk of severe lows. Take it with a meal or snack, as the mecasermin label directs.
Alcohol and skipped meals
Both make low blood sugar more likely.
Medicines cleared by liver CYP450 enzymes (seizure medicines, cyclosporine, sex hormones, corticosteroids)
Growth hormone may change how fast these are cleared. Levels may need monitoring.
Everything else you take, including supplements
Bring a full list of medicines and supplements to your pharmacist or clinician before starting.
Basis: FDA prescribing information for Increlex (mecasermin); research IGF-1 analogs are assumed to behave similarly. Educational only, not medical advice. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine without your prescriber.
